EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ELIGIBILITY
Accountability and responsibility are important concepts for students to learn. Computech tries to teach our students these concepts by maintaining an Eligibility List. Eligibility lists will be run one week prior to the event for early notification. Students will then have 2-3 days to improve their grades and behavior before the final eligibility list is run 2-3 days before the actual event. All students who wish to participate in activities (including, but not limited to, dances, recreational field trips, noon-time intra-murals, entertainment assemblies, Wild Water Trip, and etc.) must:
1. Eligibility lists will be run one week prior to the event for early notification. For example, preliminary eligibility list will be posted by Friday morning of the week prior to a school dance, typically scheduled for Thursday afternoons. Students will then have 2-3 days to improve their grades and behavior before the final eligibility list is run 2 days before the actual event.Once the final eligibility list is run, students that are in-eligible will not be permitted to attend or participate in the school event.
2. Students that have a “F” in any class will not be considered eligible to attend or participate in extracurricular events such as dances or other activities or events.
2. Students must meet the standards of satisfactory citizenship. Two or more suspensions in one semester make a student ineligible to participate in any extracurricular activities until the end of that semester. A suspension within five school days of the event makes a student ineligible. A student who has 3 or more “N’s” in citizenship will also be placed on the non-eligibility list.
3. Students must have a satisfactory attendance record. Students must have a 90% attendance rate up to the time the eligibility list is run. Students must have less than six unexcused absences in the semester of the event. Students must not be excessively tardy to school or classes.
4. Students must attend school the day of the event.
5. Have no outstanding debt. (library or cafeteria debt, unreturned uniforms, missing books, etc.)
Extra-curricular activities are an integral part of school life and often require as much careful planning and supervision as the academic subjects. However, care must be taken that these activities do not take precedence in importance over the subject matter areas, but remain in the position of supplementing the actual courses of study.
